Preventing a Key Talent from Derailing

The lead engineer for the Environmental, Health and Safety function of a large high-tech manufacturing firm was on the verge of being terminated.  While technically very proficient, his performance was stalled by his reputation for being aggressive, impatient and insensitive toward others.  Using Attain’s Executive Coaching Process , the Attain coach worked with the engineer, his boss and the HR director to provide feedback, leverage core strengths and develop interpersonal awareness and influencing skills.  Self-assessments and skill building sessions in Understanding and Managing Differences were also used to accelerate the turnaround.  The engineer’s blind spot was removed and internal customers responded positively to the new behaviors that he demonstrated.  This individual went on to lead the company to achieve two environmental protection awards later that year.
